In Dead Poet’s Society, the Robin Williams’ character (John Keating) tells his students to seize the day (“Carpe diem, seize the day boys, make your lives extraordinary”). I wrote a guest post for ESPNcricinfo’s Cordon on the ability to seize the moments, moments that are in the state of unstable equilibrium, when a team that grabs it pretty much runs away with a Test match. I highlighted the few such moments that England had within their grasp only to be thwarted (mostly by Brad Haddin) and have now been pushed to the brink of another whitewash.
