Over at ESPN Cricinfo’s Cordon blog, a post of mine on providing an option of cricket broadcast without the cliche ridden commentary is published. The thought itself isn’t new. It was tried in the U.S. in 1980 in the NFL as a gimmick to boost ratings for a meaningless end of the season game by NBC.

When it comes to cricket commentary, more can be said with the sound of the crack of the bat and the cheers of the crowd than by an ex-player in an air-conditioned box. Truly, less is more.
