Sound of Silence

Over at ESPN Cricinfo’s Cordon blog, a post of mine on providing an option of cricket broadcast without the cliche ridden commentary is published. The thought itself isn’t new. It was tried in the U.S. in 1980 in the NFL as a gimmick to boost ratings for a meaningless end of the season game by NBC.

Here is the link to the Cordon post.

The comments section there is pretty populated already, only a few hours after the post went up. Be sure to check it out. There are some funny ones and thoughtful ones as well.

When it comes to cricket commentary, more can be said with the sound of the crack of the bat and the cheers of the crowd than by an ex-player in an air-conditioned box. Truly, less is more.
