There is a new podcast show “Short Jabs”, on the way from the basement of the Couch household. It is in addition to the Couch Talk series, so the three of you that listen to it, need not worry.
Since Couch Talk is a more laid back, long conversational style podcast, like a Test Match, it needed a short format sibling. Couch Talk, in most cases, is more about the issues surrounding cricket than the topics of the day. Thus “Short Jabs” will be geared towards addressing cricketing current affairs. The run time is expected to be 20-22 minutes. Tentatively, the publishing frequency will be fortnightly.
Another significant difference is that Couch Talk generally has one guest per show, where as Short Jabs will have three. Here is the general outline of the show:
—
Segment 1: Main Guest
Discussion on an on going series, a recently concluded match/series, any exciting series/tournament coming up, or any particular current topic of interest.
Guest List: Bloggers and Fans (mostly) and occasional journalists.
—
Segment 2: Six minutes with SidVee
Discussion on wide ranging topics from the cricket world with recurring guest @SidVee (including one question from listeners via Twitter/FB on any current cricket topic).
—
Segment 3: What’s bothering ‘em now?
Recurring guest @HomerTweets (mostly) but others that have things to vent will be brought on as well.
—
Segment 4: Closing
Recommendation of the week – YouTube clip, Book (new and old), Blog, Article, Twitter Handle, FaceBook Page etc.
—
Of course, I would like to hear from you on what you think of the idea, the segments, duration, etc. Please use the comments section or Tweet them to me @thecricketcouch with the hashtag #ShortJabs
The first segment is the space for the engines that run cricket – the fans. I look forward to your participation in that, as well as the questions you send in for SidVee.
Please forward links to interesting blogs, video clips, books etc that you believe the rest of the world needs to know about.
The first show will be out later this week. Topic of discussion with @sidvee is recent Indian team selections. Send in your question.
